Foundation for Balance and Harmony
Dyslexia is a disorder that affects millions of people all over the world. It is one type of specific learning disability that affects a person's ability to read. Educational Kinesiology can eliminate the symptoms of Dyslexia and strengthen learning abilities in children and adults. We are inspired by the opportunity to teach people how to read and learn for themselves. One reason that we're focusing our efforts in Guatemala is that the incidence of Dyslexia is much higher in third world countries than in the U.S. Dyslexia is caused by an underdeveloped Corpus Collosum (or lack of "Connections" between the left and right hemisphere's of the Brain). The Corpus Collosum is a thick bundle of nerves which joins the two hemisphere's together. You may have heard that its good for children to crawl before they begin to walk. This is because the physical act of "Cross-Crawling" activates BOTH the left and right hemisphere's simultaneously. This develops and strengthens the Connections between the hemispheres of the Brain. Cross-Crawling is where you move your left arm and right leg simultaneously and then move your right arm and left leg simultaneously. Children do this movement naturally as they begin to crawl. For years Doctors have advised many patients to walk for healthy exercise and while they walk to "swing their arms". This also is the Cross-Crawl movement. Most cases of Dyslexia are merely a result of a lack of connections between the two hemispheres of the brain. Educational Kinesiology helps to stimulate these connections and can eliminate the symptoms of Dyslexia and strengthen learning abilities in children and adults. The brain is never too old to learn. |
